Houston BCycle welcomes their new executive director Bryan Reed to the team. Bryan Reed joins Houston BCycle, having served as an educator in schools and education-policy for over twenty years.  Bryan most recently served as Senior Managing Director of Strategy and External Affairs for Teach For America Houston where he led development of an ambitious and student-centred 10-year plan.  He continues to believe that schools play a unique and vital role in a thriving democracy, allowing for an informed and connected electorate.  His responsibilities included strategy, board management, communications, and talent which are desired qualities at Houston Bike Share.

Before his Teach For America role, Bryan served as a principal in YES Prep Public Schools where he launched the Spring Branch Independent School District, KIPP Texas Public Schools, and YES Prep Public Schools (SKY) Partnership’s YES Prep Northbrook High School campus as a founding school leader.

Bryan is a proud graduate of the University of Florida, receiving his Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 2003 and a Master of Education in Administration from Sam Houston State University in 2009.

Houston Bike Share vision on providing a sustainable, affordable public transit system has grown from not only giving the City of Houston an alternative mode of transportation but also a sense of community by partnering with other local organizations and establishments with educational bike rides and creative programs.

Bryan’s vision aligns perfectly to the Houston BCycle mission as a former Civics teacher and current citizen who cares about Houstonians.  Bryan believes deeply in the need for people to break bread and build community.

“I am excited to support awareness and access in the transportation and micromobility space.  Every person in our great city deserves access to mobility. Mobility is freedom. Mobility is justice.” -Bryan Reed
