Juneteenth Freedom Ride

The Juneteenth Freedom Ride is a 20 mile celebratory ride with an average pace of 13mph that seeks to commemorate the rich history by riding through and experiencing that richness on two wheels. This ride will begin in Freedmen’s Town and travel to the Black Lives Matter street in Independence Heights, then head down to Jack Yates High School to see the George Floyd Memorial, after which ride down the Tiger Walk at TSU on the way to the Buffalo Soldiers Museum before heading back to Freedmen’s Town to visit the 2nd church that Rev. Jack Yates pastored (Bethel MBC), and finally the ride closes with a stroll down the historic brick streets.

EARLY ARRIVAL IS HIGHLY SUGGESTED:

Check-In/Arrival: 8am-9am

• Bike Ride will begin at 9am sharp.

PLEASE KEEP ALL VALUABLE ITEMS AT HOME AND/OR OUT OF SIGHT.

THINGS TO KNOW:

• Wear Comfortable/Active Wear (No sandals or Flip Flops)

• Bring water (Hydrate!!! Hydrate!!! & Hydrate!!!)

• Helmets are preferred.

• Make sure tires have suggested air pressure (Proper PSI can be found on side of tire). Personnel will be available during check-in times ONLY to assist with this.

• Bring spare inner tube and tools in case of flat.

• Download ride share app (Uber or Lyft) in case of bike failure or fatigue.

BIKE RULES

1. Have fun

2. Stay in ONE lane (if available bike lane) & behind ride leader at all times

3. When passing or making sudden stops please announce it.

4. Never pass on right side, always pass on left and announce that you are “passing on left”

5. Please do not swerve in and out of lane or in front of other cyclists.

6. And lastly… Have fun!!!!
